The Findlay Census of UK Manufacturing has been carried out continuously for over 25 years. It currently covers 30,000 UK manufacturing-related sites - what they make and how they make it, alongside detailed family trees of key technical departments and 185,000 named personnel within them.

The continuing investment in compiling and maintaining this data makes it a comprehensive audit of the UK manufacturing companies. In addition to measuring the number and size of factories it also tracks the number of qualified staff engaged in such specialized functions as engineering design, electronics design, production engineering, factory services, purchasing, supply chain and IT.
